Best whole-bean coffee for espresso at home
By the CDL Team. Updated 2026-10-22.
For home espresso, the highest-rated coffees in our review catalog are Dogwood Bear Hug (4.7/5), Island Vintage Volcano Blend and Stillhouse Eden (both 4.4/5). In our shop, every coffee comes in a Dark roast option, which most home espresso drinkers prefer for a heavier, lower-acid shot.
What we looked at
We compared coffees marked as espresso roasts in our review catalog and their personal ratings on a 0–5 scale. Unrated coffees are left out of the ranking.
Buying for espresso from our shop
The three shop coffees are single origins sold by Wind & Fire in Medium or Dark roast. They are not sold as dedicated espresso blends, so pick Dark if you mainly pull shots, and Medium if you also brew filter coffee.
